Five questions that tell you more about an agency than any brochure, and the two answers that should make you walk away.

Ask who actually shows up. Not the name of the company, the name of the caregiver, and what happens on the week she is sick. An agency that cannot answer that has not built a schedule, it has built a hope.

Ask how the first two weeks are reviewed. Care that is set once and never revisited is care that stops fitting by month two.

Ask what is billed separately. Mileage, holidays, minimum shift lengths. Get it in writing before anyone starts.

Ask what happens after a hospital stay, because that is when most families call us and that is when the plan has to change fastest.

Ask who to call at nine at night. If the answer is an answering service in another state, you already know.

If you want the numbers as well as the questions, the cost guide on this site has both.
