Free journal

Twelve pages I wrote when I had nothing left to give anybody.

During treatment I filled a notebook with things nobody would publish. Later I pulled out the twelve pages that were actually useful and made them into this.

It is not a wellness programme and it will not organise your life. There are prompts, a lot of white space, and one line from the song I wrote that year. It is for the caregiver who has not sat down since March, and for anyone in a year that is asking too much of them.

A few of the prompts

  • What did today actually ask of me, and what did I give it?
  • Who has been carrying something for me that I have not thanked?
  • What am I pretending is fine?
  • What song was playing the last time I felt like myself?
A handwritten lyric sheet with crossed out lines beside a pencil and a coffee cup

Where should I send it? First name and email is all I need.

If you came here through the song

Then you already know the part of the story this journal came from. The writing page has the rest of it, including what happened after people started sending me their own year.

If you came here caring for somebody

Then take the journal, and know that the other half of what I do is practical help at home in Orlando. You do not have to keep doing all of it alone.

Read the story it came out of

The songwriting, the diagnosis, and how a woman with a Billboard number one ended up running a home care company in Orlando.
